Question 1

Does removing metadata prove an image is not AI-generated?

Accepted Answer

No. Removing metadata only cleans the file's metadata containers. Pixel-level watermarks such as Google SynthID are not metadata and are not affected. "No AI metadata detected" means no supported AI metadata was found — it is not proof of anything about how the image was made.

Question 2

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Bimta runs entirely in your browser. The file is read, rewritten and re-verified on your device — there is no upload and no server that could keep a copy.

Question 3

What is C2PA metadata?

Accepted Answer

C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) defines a signed manifest attached to a media file that records how it was created or edited. It is stored in JUMBF containers and read by platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to label AI-generated content.
